I just recently created a secondary instance of my production portal on a second server and setup IIS to be a different domain.  Both of my sitefinity sites are pointed to the same CRM on-premise instance.  I'm able to view data within the site coming from CRM but I'm not able to assign new Portal Roles created and assigned to a new Portal record to any Contact records.  I was able to create a new Role in the test Sitefinity site and it did synchronize with CRM and associate the record with the correct Portal record.  When I try to add a Portal User record I receive an error,

"Unexpected exception from plug-in (Execute): pavliks.PortalConnector.Plugins.PrePortalUserCreate: System.InvalidOperationException: There was an error accessing the plugin configuration. Please make sure the SecureConfiguration element is added correctly on this plugin step.Detail: ".

If I try creating the Portal User from the Contact form, Manage Portal Roles, the select Portal Role field doesn't show the created Portal Role so I'm unable to create the User from the Contact record either.  The only step that I didn't perform when setting up my new server is the install of the TPC solution from within Sitefinity as I assumed this was unnecessary and would attempt to duplicate the solution.  I did utilize the export functionality witin Sitfinity to move the content and pages from the one production site to the new test site.

I also just noticed that when I try and access a lookup widget associated with the TPC security entities such as Portal Roles, the MVC widget doesn't load but I can access other Lookup widgets associated with other CRM entities and they work.

While I'm still not able to access the Lopokup field properties, I was able to modify the Fetch XML through the Advanced button.  While I'm not sure why, I deleted the Portal record and added it again I was able to eventually get around this issue without error so this issue can be considered closed.
