Hi,
As you have mentioned your TPC version 3.1, please make sure to sync the knowledge base articles in the Portal Connector. To sync them navigate to Sitefinity backend > Administration > Portal Connector Configuration > General setting > Sync Knowledge base.
The Portal Connector version 4.3 has updated knowledge base widget, with which you can display the knowledge base articles from Article entity
(old knowledge base solution )as well as Articles from the new knowledge base solution from your Dynamic CRM.

We would recommend you to update your Portal Connector to latest version i.e 5.0 or to at least version 4.3.
