Is it best practice to have a different App User for DEV and / or TEST portals than PROD portal or same?
Additionally, any best practice / recommendation for configuring DEV portal to a Sandbox?

    Hello Eric,

Yes, it is recommended to have a different App User for each environment. This would keep things separate and also help with any API limits on the CRM side.

When you say configuring a dev portal to a Sandbox, do you mean Sandbox CRM?

    All the best,

    Brady,
Yes, I meant a Sandbox CRM so that both portal and data would be true DEV. Thank you for response on App User - I figured that was correct but wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something.

You can absolutely setup a Sandbox CRM to use with the dev portal. As far as best practices, it would mostly be ensuring the 2 CRM's match as closely as possible so testing can be consistent. Outside of that, the connection/configurations would essentially be the same.

A great way to ensure consistency is copying the environments. That way when changing connections, you don't lose entity metadata, etc.

Here is a link to some docs for copying environments: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/copy-environment

I'm not sure if that answers your question but please feel free to elaborate further and I will do my best to provide you with more information.

    Kind regards,
